Upgrading the paradigm of SexTech

‘Gadgets for boys and dolls for girls’ is childhood. ‘Dolls for men and gadgets for women’ is adulthood. Or adultery?:)

This being of course a joke, I however find myself concerned about many people’ still believing SexTech to be just like this — nothing but dolls instead of real intimacy.

Upgrading the paradigm of SexTech

Now, I guess you’d hardly stop the progress: as long as people think about Westworld girls and boys, the tech companies will work on giving them. This happens to be the simplest thing to do.

There is also another popular misbelief — the idea of SexTech to be just a synonym to porn. But it is actually not — there are at least 8 more segments in this industry (see my overview opening for more details) making porn the least “teched” of it.

So I believe it’s time we extend (and upgrade) the paradigm by highlighting and bringing to the fore the SexTech’ more challenging and sophisticated task — development and facilitation of emotional and sensual connect between people, building intimacy in their relationships .

How technologies help boosting intimacy? Some examples.

At Fantasy we’ve come with a simple idea of matching people — couples or singles — by fantasies. The Pillow team focuses on giving more ways to building intimacy in relationships. While Make Love Not Porn projects speaks about SexTech working for the benefit of social sex: making people comfortable talking about sex, also by means of “sharing videos of themselves having it”.

Extended role of SexTech

For me SexTech is first and foremost about products and technologies devised to meet sensual desires — be it a very intimate physical aspect or searching for a role-playing fantasy match — of real people dealing with real people. Helping, assisting, prompting, but better not substituting. Securing sexual ‘upgrade’ of men and women, not gadgets. Making real sex better, making live people want more of it.

People of SexTech: Male or Female? Both!

What is the best way to make this all work properly? Having a mixed sex positive team working on it of course!! This brings us closer in terms of emotions, making the global connection and interaction easier and the product thus better. I’ve been in relationships for more than 8 years and I know that continuous dialogue between man and woman is a great contribution to everybody’s positive experience, and their cooperation makes a groundwork for development of both the industry and the people it serves.

A dedicated sex-evangelist, I practice what I preach:). I’m currently looking for an open and positive woman to become my Fantasy app co-founder, and believe this to be a middle path to making human sexuality a best-profiting beneficiary from SexTech investments. After all, this is the kind of good news I’d love to bring!
